Tullamarine vs Greenvale senior women

Leo Dineen Reserve, Weather : Overcast

Final scores

Tullamarine.     1.4-10    3.5-23   4.6-30   4.7-31

Greenvale.        1.0-6.    1.0-6     2.2-14   2.4-16

Quarter 1:

We came out of the blocks strong with Courtney Annett marking everything up front . We might have to call her buckets . Although just getting them a bit to far out from goals . Finally she grabbed one in range and put it through . We peppered the goals but were inaccurate with only 1  major return from 5 shots . Greenvale's listed VFLW player  no 28 was causing havoc in the midfield and giving them plenty of drive resulting in them getting a goal . To many wasted opportunities by us .

Quarter 2:

It was evident we had to stop their midfield influence as it was getting them back in the game . We  decided to put a heavy tag on 28 with Mimi and her presence was shut down resulting in Greenvale losing their midfield drive . Only 3 scoring shots for us  but in turn  keeping the Jets scoreless. The skipper Tricia Gwen  stepped up kicking 2 majors and giving us a good buffer going into the second half .

Quarter 3:

With the game slipping away Greenvale changed it up with their tall VFLW player going into the ruck from here defensive post . It worked and they got a goal and she seemed to become a bit of a headache . We tried to negate her run with Tash picking her up and running with her . Taylah  Hardman and Shae Montrose

Stood strong in defence taking plenty of intercept marks . The skipper put through another and it ended up pretty much an even quarter .

Quarter 4:

The game  was a low scoring one  so we thought we  had enough lead to hold on ,  so we changed the team around a bit . The wind picked up and it was quite chilly . The team stood steady with the change ups and both sides proved inaccurate registering only behinds . Another even quarter .

Injuries : Beth Isobel concussion from a heavy knock taken to hospital . Reports all clear .

Best players :

Tricia Gwen , Courtney Annett,  Mimi , Shae Montrose , Taylah Hardman , Cayla Maree.

3 T Devine.  1 Courtney Annett

Always great to come out with a win . We were taken by surprise with Greenvales VFLW inclusions , they proved pretty handy . Losing Beth and her run and carry hurt us .Skyla Cain

Proved a great find , her first game and looks a player of the future for us . Cayla had a game high 8 tackles .

Was going to be a big day for us, we traveled out to Burnside to ply a wet cold game on a early Saturday morning.  We prepared well and looked very focused.
Burnside were bottom of the table and struggling, so this was going to be a good game for some of our boys that needed some good game time and form. We played a sluggish first quarter but lead at the first change by 4 goals. We came out in the second quarter faster and smarter, using the ball well and kicking it into Liam Montrose very well. At half time Liam had 6 goals to his name and we were 10 goals up.
Burnside had to many injuries to , they pulled out at half time, leaving us disappointed.
But in saying that, we are still top of the table and in the 4 by 5 games. Finals birth is all but assured.
Liam played well with his 6 goals whilst Brock Mcartiny was outstanding in the middle and Seth Patterson strong in the ruck along side Thomas Grant.
Very pleased to go into the Queen’s Birthday break on top of the ladder with 7 wins and one loss.

Under 11s

We ventured out to Coburg Districts and hoped to continue to build on our recent form.

The opposition got off to a really good start and we weren't able to close the gap throughout the remainder of the game

We controlled the game well during the 2nd & 3rd quarters but weren't able to finish off our good work to hit the scoreboard.

Some good learning points to take from the game and we will continue to work with the kids on their field positionings.

The young group of players are showing some really good signs in patches and we need to work harder over the full 4 quarters

Under 13s

We played very well. We talked about being first to the ball, first to the contest and playing in front

We spread well and used our best option most times still a bit to work on but an awesome effort and they played well as a team.
