Mission & Vision

Tullamarine Football & Netball Club provides opportunities for children and adults from all occupations, to get active, be part of the community and play the much-loved sports of - Australian Rules Football & Netball.

The club aims to improve the standard of physical fitness, developing a sense of fair play and teamwork. It also provides all members an opportunity to reach new heights for personal development.

The Club has a proud history of being for the community, with a strong membership base both on and off the field. The Club has enjoyed the opportunity of Premier Division exposure in the past and is striving to return there again in the future.

Throughout 2019 the club continued to strengthen our Junior development program by gaining a closer association with the Primary and Secondary Schools within the Tullamarine area and promoting football within the community! Our biggest success in 2019 would be the involvement of our senior playing groups in our junior and Auskick programs. Every week 2 male and 2 female players got involved, the kids love this, and it really shows our strong #oneclub philosophy. Our netball is growing at a rapid rate with high levels of success from Under 8 through to senior women. The clubs first ever Women’s football team was a huge success culminating in our Captain being named as Captain of the EDFL team of the year. The aim in 2020 is for a strong season and a finals campaign.

We are striving to make the Tullamarine Football Club one of the most professionally managed clubs in the Essendon District Football League.

With the support of our members, local community and sponsors, the Tullamarine Football Club intends to:

  • Strive for constant improvement as a leading provider of local sports participation to the community
  • Be an open club that is family focused to all
  • Earn the respect of our opponents and associates through hard work, fair play and dedication.
  • Continually grow membership numbers.
  • Improve our facilities to provide the best Club environment possible.
  • Continue to encourage a healthy lifestyle for members of our community.

About

The Tullamarine Football Club was formed in 1974 by merging the Essendon Baptists St Johns with the Ascot Vale Presbyterians Football Clubs. From 1975-1979, the Club achieved an Essendon District Football League record of 5 consecutive A-Grade (now known as Premier Division) Premierships, a record they still hold today.

In 2014, the Club celebrated its 40th Anniversary which shows the well-established and long-standing support and commitment from the local community.

Currently, we have over 300 registered participants and members from Auskick to Open Age with strong family support.

The Club also has a close affiliation with the Tullamarine Sports Club and Tullamarine Cricket Club. These affiliated associations regularly use the Tullamarine facilities and provide increased exposure to all sponsors. This provides exposure to in-excess of 100 further individuals.

History

Essendon Baptists joined the Essendon District Football League during the 1930s. After WWII an increasing number of the clubs players were drawn from the St John's church community therefore a name change seemed appropriate - in the late 1940s Essendon Baptists - St John's were born. The club retained Essendon Baptists' navy blue guernsey but a white EBSJ monogram was added to the chest.

Essendon Baptist Saint John's was a noteworthy presence in the EDFL for many years, winning a B Grade premiership in 1956, and an A Grade flag two seasons later. Among the club's products were no fewer than fourteen Essendon footballers including such luminaries as Ron Evans, Ted Fordham, Ken Fraser and Don McKenzie. The club dropped Essendon from its name in 1981 and became Tullamarine F.C., winning its first B Grade premiership in the same year. Its colours are red and blue. Known as the Demons, they have the same jumper and mascot as AFL side, Melbourne F.C.

Tullamarine Football Club was formed in 1974 and know as Essendon-Tullamarine after a merger between Essendon Baptist St John's and Ascot Vale Presbyterians. Tullamarine was a success from the outset, with its five successive A Grade flags between 1975 and 1979 establishing an Essendon District Football League record which still stands. More recently, the club has enjoyed intermittent success.

The club's latest senior premiership was the 2003 win over West Coburg 13.17.95 to 10.10.70.

Since 2003 the seniors were runners up in 2007, 2008, 2014 & 2016 they have also made the finals every year between 2005 and 2017.

Tullamarine relocated to their home ground at Leo Dineen Reserve in Spring Street in 1977. The club is known as a family club, because of its friendly environment and its willness to welcome anybody to be part of its great club.
